Sub-Zero is the name over the door, but a 92103 kitchen usually holds three or four badges, and the year of the remodel decides which ones.
Square footage sets the equipment mix here before anything else does. Uptown kitchens are narrow, most were cut into houses and condo buildings that went up long before this class of appliance existed, and the openings show it: refrigerator and freezer columns instead of one wide side-by-side, undercounter drawers under an island or a bar, a wine cabinet standing in for the cellar the building does not have, and a 30 or 36 inch range where a larger house would carry 48 or 60. Almost nothing in these kitchens is freestanding. It is built into millwork, and it has to be diagnosed in that millwork.
The second thing that decides the mix is when the kitchen was last done. A Mission Hills or University Heights bungalow remodeled in the 1990s tends to hold Sub-Zero refrigeration next to a Viking range, and a striking number of those machines are still working. Remodels from the 2000s around Hillcrest Village and Bankers Hill lean toward Sub-Zero with a Wolf range or cooktop beside it. Condo packages from the last decade bring Thermador, usually the induction cooktop, the wall oven and a refrigeration column, with a Cove dishwasher where the kitchen was specified as a matched set. Mixed-brand kitchens are the rule rather than the exception on these blocks, which is the practical argument for one number instead of four.
Sub-Zero
Built-in refrigeration, freezer columns, wine storage and undercounter units — the line we work on most.
Wolf
Dual-fuel and gas ranges, wall ovens and cooktops. Ignition, temperature drift and convection faults.
Viking
Professional ranges and built-in refrigeration. Glow-bar igniters and oven thermostats are the common wear points.
Thermador
Ranges, induction cooktops, wall ovens and refrigeration columns — the most electronics of the lines we service.
Cove & other premium lines
We also repair Miele, Bosch, GE Monogram, Dacor and Gaggenau equipment in these kitchens.
Our wine cooler had inconsistent temperatures, causing concern for our collection. Finding a local, reliable repair company operating 24/7 was a challenge until we discovered this team. One visit fixed the problem. Highly recommended.
Fridge side was creeping up every afternoon and fine again by morning, freezer never missed a beat. He pulled the grille off in our Hillcrest galley and the coil was packed gray. Cleaned it, checked the fan, and it has held ever since.
Our kitchen is open to the living room so a new rattle drove us mad inside a week. It was the fan behind the grille on the Thermador column, bearing gone. He had one with him and the place was quiet again before lunch.
